The Alliance - Finished Film Opening

The Alliance - Video Diary #2

For the second video diary we had Dillan editing the audio volume level for the film. We were editing the audio levels so that each clip would have the same volume levels so that the film won't sound weird and lose the continuity.

This is the example of the the software in which Dillan was editing the audio:

The Alliance - Video Diary #1

For the first video diary we had Shonam, he was editing the sniper scene. We were editing a sniper in to the film as we didn't have one there with us, so by using effects it allowed us to put a sniper, making it look more realistic.

This is the example of the programme that we were using in order to add a sniper effect:

The Alliance - Equipment

Equipment Used

In this film we used a variety of different pieces of equipment, these pieces were:

- Canon EOS 70D with a Canon EF-S Zoom - 18 - 135mm lens
- K&F Concept Cardioid Microphone
- FOTOWELT Glide-Cam Stabilizer
- Tripod.

Below is an image of what the set up looked like when filming:

We used the Canon as it allowed us to film in Full HD, this means that we had 1920x1080 pixels and it was at 30 frames per second. The camera also had great auto focus tracking which was useful during the running scenes and also had high ISO range which allowed us to record in a great quality so was therefore easier to shoot. The mic we used was good for when we were picking up sound from in front of us, this is good as it wouldn't capture the sound of civilians walking around the common whilst we were recording. It was also great at picking up the audio for our voices. We kept switching between the stabilizer and the tripod, this was because they were better suited for different situations.

The Alliance - Software

Sony Vegas Pro

When editing the film we decided to use Sony Vegas Pro. We found that this was the easiest software to use, we found it even better than Adobe Premiere Elements. We all had knowledge of how to use the software and if we were to use Adobe Premiere Elements it would have meant that we would all have to learn how to adapt to a new software so that would be very time consuming.

One of the main things we like about this package is that it is easy to follow and get use to and is very simplistic but can have some advanced features. This package makes it less tedious to play around with the sound and its levels for each shot or scene and doesn't take very long to learn the basics of the software. It was very easy to input titles in the right place and found it easy to put in the right place as all that was needed was for us to drag it and this would result in not having any problems.

We used a conventional title sequence with also had a dynamic production credit, this helped us make our film much more professional. We used photoshop to give us our production name, white horn productions. Song Vegas Pro allowed us to make this look very professional.

The Alliance - Film Treatment

Film Treatment - The Alliance

This post is going to be talking about the beginning, middle and the ending to the full film.

The plot of our film: In the future there will be a large number of antagonists that have successfully brought war, crime and drugs in to large areas of the UK. They go on to take control of the government and countries resources. Many military fighters were sent to stop them. However they become more powerful and are harder to defeat. A small number of highly skilled individuals formed from the remaining amount of the government. This caused a secret alliance to be formed in order to take down the evil.

The beginning of the film: The beginning will start of with the two protagonists running in the woods towards their camp. They believe that if they capture the valuable target they will be able to gather some key information. Who ever they face troubles on the way by coming across many guards that are trying to protect their camp. The protagonists cover becomes blown and that leads to one of the main protagonists being killed and the other becoming captured after being injured.

The middle of the film: After the protagonist has been capture, he is rescued by the other members of Alliance and they go on to find te valuable information in the other camp.
During the film there s lots of gun fights and that means there will be lots of action. They eventually start to piece together the reason as to why the antagonists are doing this. Using the information that they gathered they are able to stop the antagonists.

The ending of the film: The ending scene of the film is set at the funeral. This is where the members of Alliance, including the one who was captured, are carrying the coffin which contains the protagonists that died at the beginning. This makes the audience feel emotional. We then see shots of the country rebuilding itself and shows it becoming a better place.

The Alliance - Film Brainstorm

The Alliance - Film Brainstorm

This is an image of our initial film ideas, we went on to follow some elements of the plan but decided not to follow through on all of them. These are things such as making it an action horror we just made it an action film. We also got rid of the idea of having a flashback in the opening scene as it was to hard to fit into the first 2 minutes of the film.

Below is the first storyboard in which we made but haven't fully followed:

The Alliance - Title Fonts

The Alliance - Title Fonts

War and Action film titles have to bold so that they stand out, we noticed this with many action and war films. Some examples of action films which have bold capital letters are films such as THE EXPENDABLES, EDGE OF TOMORROW and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

The Alliance - Paper Storyboard

The importance of using a story board is so that you can know the rough outline to the film or film opening. This is also a good way to show other people what your film is about, this is used so that people can get the approval from the film company that they are producing the film for. a
