Breakfast Club Opening Scene

Use of Camera: At the begging of the film we get a mixture of shots, these are shots of different areas of school and things students may have written such as 'I Hate Mondays'. Pictures of different elements of the school allow the film to tell us about different social groups within the school. We get a close up of two people, this is a teenage girl and father, this can also be called a Two Shot. We then see two other families, these are likely to also be main characters.

Use of sound: There is music in the background whilst someone is narrating over the top about what is going on. Here we hear a conversation between a girl and her father, we can tell this girl hates school as she is complaining about school. The conversations between all families are about their attitudes to school in many different situations.

Use of titles: We see many different titles in the beginning of this film, these are things written on objects saying about how they all individually hate school or see it as unfair.

Mise en Scene: We are shown the location of the film straight away, the location is at a school. This makes us think this is most likely going to be about the life of a teenager.We can tell by the way in which the characters are dressed which social group they are in, for example the guy in the football jacket is a jock.

Editing: The editing they use in this film is shot reverse shot, this is used when the parents are talking to their children about their behaviour in school.

What we find out about the story: We find out that the films is about teenagers that have detentions so have to go to school on the weekend

we find out that they are all getting in trouble therefore having to go to school on the weekends. They could been seen as trouble makers or rebellious.

The target audience may be teenagers or young adults as this may allow them to be happy that they don't act like that so don't ever have to get in trouble. They may also what it so that they can be nosey and watch how other schools work or to see what social groups different to theirs do.

Saturday Night Fever Opening Scene

Use of Camera: At the begging of the film we get an establishing shot of the city. We get a close up and a medium shot of the character, this is so we can see his features.

Use of sound: We hear the sound of traffic, this will make us know its a city without getting to see the location. We then see the main character, he is walking along to the song which is playing in the background.

Use of titles:

Mise en Scene: The setting is based in the city, we can tell this from the skyscrapers and the bridges. He is carrying a paint tin, this shows that he may be a labour worker or is just delivering something for a friend.

Editing:

What we find out about the story: We don't find out anything in the first two minutes, we only find out who the main character is.

We don't find out a lot in the first 2 minutes, but we see a confident well liked man walking around he city.

Toy Story 2 Opening Scene

Use of Camera: At first we get a medium shot of a guy, they are heading to  earth at a high speed. We get a close up of the characters face, he is likely to be one of the main characters involved in this film. We see the eye line match of the character Buzz which allows us to see what he is seeing, i this case it was rocks.

Use of sound: We get epic music in the background this indicates that he is on a mission. We then hear the sounds of robots, we then find out he is going to have them as they are his enemies

Use of titles:

Mise en Scene: The location is shown as out in space at the beginning of the scene. Buzz is wearing an astronaut costume, this helps evidence that he is out in space.

What we find out about the story: We find out that Buzz is in space, in space he is having to fight enemies in order to survive

What find out about characters?
We find out that he is an astronaut out in space, that wants to save the day. The robots are not as intelligent as Buzz as he says that there is no intelligent life.

The target audience will be young children, this is because they play with toys, there is also childish comedy and not strong or sexual scenes.

Pacific Rim Opening Scene

Use of Camera: For the first few opening seconds its just a black screen, this is so the narrator can talk about previous events in his life. After the black screen we get an establishing shot of the ocean. We get a long shot of the bridge, this is good as it allows us to see the destruction caused whilst getting  to see them monster that did it as well.  We get many long shots of the scenes, this is good as it allows us to see the impact of the creatures. 

Use of sound: Using a black screen and having someone talking adds suspense, this is because it makes you curious as to what has happened and makes you want to know the story of what is going on. The sound of crashes shows us that there is something causing carnage. We hear many screams, this shows us that there is something to be frightened by.

Use of titles:

Mise en Scene: The first location of the film is taking place underwater, this is because he is explaining about how alien life came into the world. Jets and Tanks, these are typically used to show people that there is a war, as these are vehicles that can destroy many things or a few big things.

Editing:

What we find out about the story: We find out that there is a lot of creatures that came through a portal, this monsters are now trying to kill everyone in the world. We hear a man narrating his experiences over the top to help explain what was going on.

What find out about characters?
The narrator is someone who has been saved or is still alive, he is someone who knows a lot of knowledge about what has been happening. The other characters are the creatures, these are vicious and their only aim is to destroy the planet.

The target audience will be teenagers to adults, this is because they will enjoy the action that takes place. This would not be suitable for audiences younger.

Avengers 2 Opening Scene

Use of Camera: At the very beginning of the scene we get a medium shot of most of the characters, this is good as it allows us to see some of the main characters from the films. We see a long shot of Thor flying, this is good as it will allow us to see different characters and their powers. We then get a 90 degree rotation, this allows us to see all around him so we can see the antagonists which are trying to attack him. We then get an explosion, this allows another character to enter the scene. We get a medium shot of another character which turns out to be the hulk. this is then lead on by a medium shot showing all the protagonists which are fighting in a battle between two difference forces. We get an extreme long shot of a castle or temple, this shows us the location.

Use of sound: It starts with background music that sounds like is going to increase in pace and is going to get louder. This tells us that it may be building up to a huge battle between two different sides. We get a loud scream when one of the antagonists are being dragged along the floor by Captain America. There is many sounds of explosions and shooting which shows us that there is a war between two different forces. The swear word 'SHIT' makes us think that this film may possibly not be suitable for children.

Mise en Scene: The setting of this film is in a snowy location. This may be because there enemy is hiding and they're trying to find them. The also all have their own unique uniforms, such as Captain America, these are because they are well known and people can easily identify the iconic figure. We later on see the setting of a temple or castle, this may be the location of their enemy.

Editing: They use slow motion at one point in thee film, this is when they are all going over a barrier, this is good ass it allows us to see all of the characters 

What we find out about the story: We find out that the avengers are trying to take out an enemy that can possibly be attempting to take over the world, but we are unclear as all we can see is them attacking their minions.

We find out that there is a collection of people which have special powers which are trying to fight enemies which are trying to destroy them and take over the world.

The target audience is teenagers and adults, this film can attract both genders as there are both male and female actors. People may want to go see this film as they may have seen the other films or read the comics

Transformers 4 Opening Scene

Use of Camera: At first we get a long shot of an object out in space, this allows us as the audience to feel confused or curious as to what the floating object is. We get a shot from below the object entering earth, this shows tat this object is meant to be more powerful than us as it is looking down on us. We get a close up of a creature, from this we can tell it is a dinosaur. We then get a close up of a hand, this makes us think that this may be the hand to either to protagonist or the antagonist. We see a lot of explosions and terror, this indicates to us that this film is likely to be a sci-fi action film.

Use of sound: We get some eary noise at the beginning which is slightly quiet. This helps add to thee effect of it being creepy or even evil. We then get the sound of some dinosaurs this shows us that this is going to be taking place a long time ago or hat they have been reborn. We hear the dinosaurs screaming, this makes us think that there is an evil which is coming to kill everyone and take over.

Use of titles: At the beginning of the scene we get to see who the film has been produced by. The company it was produced by was Paramount Pictures and Hasbro. The word transformers appears, this is because this is the name of the film. It then has the effect that when the meteor goes through it the title disappears.

Mise en Scene: We can see that this thing that was taking over earth was from out of space. This makes us think that this film is taking place in space as well as in a deserted location on earth.

Editing: The camera zooms out, this allows us to see what else is happening around it that we were able to see before. This can allow us to piece together what the object was.

What we find out about the story: We find out that an evil force is trying to take over the earth by killing all living things currently on it

We find out that there is an evil creature that wants to be extremely powerful by ruining things for others.

15 and older. This is because it will have lots of action but not detailed enough to be distressing to young teenage viewers.

Use of Camera: film starts off using the sound of a hit then a grunt, this is to show someone being held hostage. We then hear the sound of multiple trucks. We then we hear the sound of an orchestra building up the pace in the background, normally when we hear this we think that it is building up to something scary or dangerous (encouraging music)

Children of Men Opening Scene Analysis

Use of Camera: The beginning of the film starts with a black screen showing nothing, this is good as it allows the audience to try and imagine the setting and the story behind the film. This scene has a medium shot of the crowd, in this we see a man coming through the crowd; he automatically makes us as the audience feel like he is going to be the main character. The data on screen show us that this is currently in the future (2027). The main character then walks out of the café, this give us an establishing shot of the city, here we can see it has improved by having lots of TV’s on the side of buildings. We then get a 180 degree turn around the actor this is so that we will be able to see the explosion go off.

Use of sound: At the beginning it starts off with us hearing a new report, within this news report we hear about them removing illegal immigrants from the country. At this point all we can hear is the crowd reacting to what is being said on the news. The loud sound of cars moving show us that people are in a rush and that it is very busy. The sound of an explosion makes it seem like there may have been a terrorist attack, therefore this may be why they have been trying to shut off all the borders to the country.

Mise en Scene: There is a police man wearing an iconic English policeman helmet as well as a red London bus driving past in the background, this tells us straight away (without seeing much of the setting) we can tell this is going to be based in London. They have also put rickshaws in this as they are also iconic for London. He pulls out a small bottle of what looks like alcohol; this is so he can try to escape his daily miseries form the miserable dirty city.

What we find out about the story: The opening two minutes of this film show us that the film is going to be based in the main city of London. We also find out that this film is going to take place in the future, we can tell this from the date 2027. We find out that in this story there has been a stop to having children, I can tell this from the fact that the news report says about there being the youngest person on the planet. He was 18 years old. However this may not have been from someone stopping them having babies but it may have been caused by disease killing people or murders to the point where people are unable to have children. I think this film may be about how people are trying to survive against an apocalypse as the city looks slightly destroyed and everyone looks worried. They may be trying to fight against a terrorist attack due to there being an explosion.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Opening Analysis

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

First 2 Minutes

Use of Camera: At the beginning of this film we have a bird’s eye view of the city, this involves spider-man being slightly below the camera so that he can be in shot. Therefore this shot may be showing us that he is in control of the city and that he is the more powerful than those below him. Here we start to see many medium shots of him swinging from building to building. We then get a low angle view of spider man, this once again supports the fact that he is very powerful compared to the rest of the city. We get a close up of a man driving a truck and smashing through police cars, this shows us that he is going to be the antagonist of this film or just the beginning so that spider man can demonstrate to the audience his abilities to fight crime. We get a long shot of spider man as he approaches the action, this is to show is control over the situation. We get a close up of the criminals face as he locks his eyes onto spider man, he comes across shocked and maybe scared as he knows it is going to be hard to try and stop him from ruining his plan.

Use of sound: The music used in the beginning of the film makes us feel like it is building up to something huge. You then go on to hear the sound of transport, this indicates to us that he lives and protects a very busy city. We start hearing him scream ‘Woo Hoo’. This tells us that swinging from building to building can be very exciting even if you do it a lot. We then hear the police about a hijacking, this tells us that spider man is on his way to stop the crime happening within New York City. We hear police sirens, this makes us add to the tension of the crime going on in the city and helps us know that spider man is likely to get involved. Spider man uses dialogue that can be seen as very cocky, this is most likely used due to the fact that he knows he is easily going to stop the criminals.

The location they use at the beginning is a very busy city and you also see the costume which shows that he is the protagonist, the costume also has the spider man symbol which helps the idea that he is going to be the protagonist in this film. They use a helicopter, this may be used to show just how high spider man can go in order to add to the feeling of him being powerful. The man driving the truck has a tattoo across his head, the connotations of someone having tattoos is that thy can be scary and aggressive.

I am Legend Opening Scene Analysis

Use of Camera: I really like the way the opening of this film begins- with some long shots of a city setting. We then cut to shots at street level and we realise that the city is empty .this makes us ask why and keeps us interested straight away. We get a close up of a subway, when we see subways this makes us think about New York as they are an icon for this city. We then get a birds eye view of the city, at this point it looks extremely deserted and run down so therefore feel like there has been a huge event that has caused the city to be destroyed and see no signs of human life. We then get a close up of Will Smith holding a gun, from this we can assume that he is going to be the main character; the gun shows us that he is taking part in a war or is trying to survive. This shows us that he may be very strong as he is able to still be alive when there is no sign of anyone else. He has his pet dog with him, this could be the only thing he has left that he loves and could also be a form of protection. Will starts stumbling across many different animals in large quantities, this is seen in many different shots: like the longshot, close ups and even eye line match. This makes us feel as if we are him exploring the city.

Use of sound: The film starts of very quiet and you can only hear the sound of the birds flying above the city. You hear a sound of loud, deep and dark music; this adds the effect that they’re building up to something massive. As we get a large overview of the city we can also hear the faint sound of someone screaming which can add the effect that there is something scary or that they’re getting tortured.  There is a built up in sound of the car coming down the road, this gives the effect that they’re trying to escape or get to a certain destination. There are lots of footsteps of animals, this makes us think that it’s been deserted for such a long time that animals are able to adapt to the city and make it their own habitat.

Use of titles:

Mise en Scene: The costume in which Will Smith is wearing is in a black jacket which makes me think he is hard-core and will do anything he can to win the war or fight against evil. He is driving in a red muscle car; the red connotes anger which means he might be angry about what has happened. The gun prop shows us that he is willing to kill people in order for him to survive. The setting involves a lot of nature growing through the city, showing that it’s either been deserted to the point where it’s growing or a great power has caused this. We then go onto see the prop of posters saying ‘GOD STILL LOVES US’ and ‘Do we still love GOD’. This shows us that this could have possibly been God turning against the human race in order to make them extinct.

The Alliance - Film Script

The Alliance - Film Script 

Scene opens with characters running across woodlands.  Then the two protagonists come across an antagonist who appears out of the bushes to the left of the screen, which results into shooting in which the antagonist dies. They continue running and start walking out of the woods. Then a sniper is taking aim at two men who have come to a halt, believing they have escaped danger.

Shonam: Are you ready?

Cameron: It’s okay, I’ve got this!

Shonam: WATCH OUT… SNIPER!!

(Cameron gets shot and falls to the floor to his death)

Shonam looks around and starts firing at the other antagonists, then gets shot once in the shoulder which causes him to fall to the floor. He then carries on firing which leads to him getting shot again. The antagonists form a circle which surrounds him, and then he gets knocked unconscious by antagonist. This causes him to be knocked out causing it to lead to the title of the film                            ‘THE ALLIANCE’

Whitehorn productions

This is going to be the name of the production that made the film. To find out whether or not there was already a production company with the same name we researched it to make sure we were not copying it. We created this using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. This was made and looks similar, but not the same, as LionsGate.

Location - Ashtead Common

Location - Ashtead Common

We have decided to use Ashtead common as our location of choice to make this war film.

This is a good idea as it allows us to have a lot of space to record and there are different areas so no area is the same.

It's also good as whilst we are using guns it is out of the view of the public, as they may think we could be a possible harm.

It looks deserted and ruined, this lives up to a stereotype of a war zone. This is good as it will give the effect that were in a genuine war and the audience are there with us.
